Without improving your back swing, it is not feasible to play a superb round of golf. Unless you can control this skill, you can never play golf to your ultimate gratification. You can still play without a perfect back swing but improving your back swing will greatly improve your general game just as much as mastering your putting. Before you begin to work on this area, remember it is not about improving your strength, but the distance as well as the form.

The way to go while learning to improving your swing is to have good swinging positioning, good posture, correct golfing gear (like the right golf shoes), and finally your alignment with the golf ball. Without a good robust position, you are going to twist at the wrong moment and have potentially massive problems with not being able to really grasp the club properly. All these put together can entirely mar your attempts to improve your back swing. The initial thing you have to bear in mind is that your position has to be flawless, so that it allows you to perform the correct follow through with ease and comfort for your swing.

If you have any questions about your position take a picture with a camera, or ask someone else to take a picture. Then compare your picture with that showing the right posture. If this is not an option for you, look into some lessons, which will allow you to work with someone to truly master your posture. Establishing your skills upon a good set of foundation skills is necessary in order to ensure that you are learning the right skills as you need them. Learning with a golf instructor is the best way to hone your skills, since they can review your game in an unbiased way, which is better than guessing yourself.

Once your position is flawless, give a closer look at your grip. In case there is any over extension or incorrect holding of the club, your backhand would be weak right from the outset. Without the right grip of the club, a good back swing is hopeless. Remember, it is not a physically feasible thing to do, so continuous frustration awaits you when you repeatedly try to do this. A slight change in the position of your hands even to the tune of a small amount can result in incredible perfection.

Before you raise the club from the ground, remember to pull it from the ball, and this is the final major hint, to improve your back swing. Most golfers make the mistake of lifting the club back and up at the exact same time. This not only means that you are prone to hit the ball off center, but it would severely harm your movement. First pull the club back in a straight direction and then raise it off the ground, and watch a dramatic improvement instantly. This is not something that should be unnatural or awkward to do. One of the most important things to remember to improve your back swing is to pull the club back before you raise it off the ground.
